Polis Moves Forward with Plans for a New Modern Hospital
A major healthcare upgrade is officially on the horizon for Polis, as President Nikos Christodoulides confirmed on 5 September 2025 that a new modern hospital will be constructed in the region. The facility will be built on the grounds of a former army base, with preparatory site work already underway and full design studies set to follow.
From Upgrade to Full Rebuild
The announcement marks a shift from earlier government statements. Back in December 2024, the President had spoken of an upgrade to the existing hospital, including improvements to the A&E department, laboratories, and radiology services.
However, the Municipality of Polis pushed strongly for a completely new hospital, arguing that the current building is outdated and no longer capable of meeting modern healthcare standards. Their position appears to have influenced the updated government direction.
Construction Timeline: 2026–2030
According to reporting by DOM LiVE (8 September 2025), construction of the new hospital is expected to begin in 2026, with completion projected by the end of 2030. This places the project firmly in the medium-term development cycle for the region.
In the meantime, the existing hospital will continue to operate, though concerns remain that partial upgrades could delay full modernisation. For residents and property buyers, this means healthcare improvements will come in phases – immediate upgrades to the current building, and a much more impactful transformation once the new hospital opens.
